You know what I love about the Prince of Wales Hotel? It's a perfect conservative Alberta story:
1) It was only economically viable because of tighter restrictions in other jurisdictions.
2) it was started by an American company and intended to pander to the British aristocracy
3) the major threat to its construction was the needs of local small farmers, which the American railway company was able to overcome. It's a real David versus Goliath story, but you know….
4) it and several of our other Rocky mountain attractions are owned by an American Capital company.
5) it has become an unassailable and undebatable sentimental symbol of Canada's rugged beauty, somehow interwoven into our national history and identity.
With me as leader, the UCP will push to have all of our cultural institutions similarly positioned.
